Extremely Disappointing â Bait and Switch Tactics
I was excited to stay at a 3-bedroom vacation home in Seattle booked through Expedia. Two days before arrival, I was told the unit was unavailable but Iâd be âupgradedâ to a 4-bedroom. I assumed it was equal or better. I requested photos and only received them a day later after following up. The interior looked dated, and no exterior photos were shared.
When I arrived, it was clearly a downgrade. The exterior was dirty, the grill was broken, and the home had odd Elvis Presley decorâincluding a large photo of him with a Confederate flag. It was offensive and nothing like what was advertised.
I contacted the manager and Expedia. The property manager was rude and dismissive. An Expedia rep actually agreed with me, but hung up mid-call and never followed up. While looking for other options, I saw the original unit was still listed as available for my exact dates. Either they donât rent their nicer units to âcertain peopleâ or theyâre scamming guests by switching them to lower-quality units.
That night, I also noticed there were no face towels. When I asked, the manager rudely said Iâd been checked in for 30 hours (I had only been there six) and questioned why I was just now asking. Their tone was immature and unprofessional.
Iâve never left a bad review before, but this experience was unacceptable. My family made the best of it, but I would never trust this property or its management again. Waiting on response from Expedia.
