As promised, but with some surprises

Our first observation was the 8-inch step-down from the living room and kitchen into the home addition with dining room, bedroom and playroom with bunk beds. We felt this could be hazardous for anyone not expecting the drop or traversing the house in low light -- the floors were the same material and color, and no signage or guide strip warned of the longer step-down. A similar feeling of hazard came with the slight dip in the flooring going toward the bunk beds. We recommend a sign at the doorways and/or color stripes warning of these unusual elevation changes. The heating system seemed to have a hard time keeping up with its settings. The thermostat was set to 68 degrees Fahrenheit, and although we turned it up to 72 once, the house never got that warm -- even though outside temperatures were mild (44 - 72 degrees). In the mornings, the inside air was 56 - 58 degrees at 8 a.m., and it was never warmer than 65 at any time during the day. Bedrooms were even colder. We huddled in blankets to stay warm. The house provided all amenities promised. We were grateful to have brought a fire lighter, because the click-start on the fire pit did not light it. We did not use the grill or hot tub -- although we did test to see that the water was warm. Things we appreciated: off-street parking for two vehicles; a large kitchen (although a stronger corkscrew and better quality pots and pans would be appreciated); great shower heads; good privacy curtains and shades; and really nice seating in the living room. Linens (sheets, towels) were good quality. Security was excellent. We recommend that vacationers tell their visitors not to bring their pets, or to keep them outside, because of the 'no pets' policy. We had a visitor bring his dog (unexpectedly) who was in the house for a few minutes before I discovered it, and the owner's rep immediately sent a warning text. I appreciated the notice and an opportunity to respond. The cabin was immaculately clean and well organized, and we received excellent service from the hosts.

Nice but watch the floors

The cabin was very nice and roomy. The floor is uneven in a room leading out to the deck and my mom fell on the unnoticeable incline. There are a couple steps that are taller than most regulatory 6-7.5 inch’s. And the incline is not marked. Safety precautions need to be made. Also backing out of the drive can be tricky since your on a hill and can’t see. Other than all that we had a great trip.

The toilet seat was broken. Ants on the kitchen counter, ants in one bedroom. Spider web all over the outside furniture and house. Hot tub didn't work. Found a roach on the kitchen floor on the first night.

Overall a great cabin. Need to be update the decor. The kitchen need pot and pans that are non stick. We had problems with ants crawling in the kitchen. There lot of spider webs throughout the cabin.

We came with two families, four children total, and had all the room we needed. Very spacious, clean and minutes from any attractions we wanted to visit. When we return to Tn we will definitely try to stay here again!

OK place to stay

It was an okay place to stay. The decor leaves something to be desired it was very 70's and a little on the creepy side. The sectional needs to be replaced as it peeling up on the chaise. The lay out of the house is very weird and if you have mobility issues don't rent this cabin. To get from the kitchen to the dining room, game room and outside to the jacuzzi you have a step down of about a foot. The floors sloop. The main driveway with the car port if you are backing out you are going to scrape coming out. The showers were very nice and had been recently updated. The bathroom in one of the rooms had no toilet paper holder or towel rail to hang towels.

Great get together location.

My friends and I have known each other since grade school, but we live in different areas now. This location was a great get together location for us. We were a little apprehensive going into this property because of some of the previous reviews, but the property was everything we were hoping it would be. There were no foul odors as stated in previous reviews. It was clean and everything we needed for our get together was there. The weekend was successful and we saw a bear as we were packing up to leave for the day and that was pretty cool. BE4L

Awesome rental!

After I had booked this rental, I stay reading reading past reviews. All I can say is don't let the past review's stop you from booking this beautiful house!! There is absolutely NO BAD SMELL. it was perfect for us. The teenagers rooms were on one side of the house, and the master suit ( my room) wad on the other. Their teenage shenanigans never disturbed me. The best hot tub of anywhere I've stayed, and I come to Gatlinburg twice a year for over 20 years. Loved the firepit and deck. Beautiful deck of off master suit, private and I even saw a bear from it!! Very clean and well lit. The only thing I would advise is that you bring your own can opener. I had a pretty hard time with the one that is provided. Other than that (and that's nothing) it is perfect! Thank you so much for the great experience, WE WILL BE BACK. House smelled like a sewage hole

On arrival maintence came crawling from under cabin said he was called there to find a leak Didn't feel comfortable with stranger under cabin for hours Called owner cabin smelled horrible like sewage half of family stayed sick from headaches an nausea owner never answered another call from us or text so we were forced to stay Hot tub got warm on 4th day of stay microwave worked half of the time not enuff cooking utensils. The cabin was clean an in nice location but I would never stay there again

Beautiful just like the pictures but the smell!!!

The property was nice just like the photos. My family had thanksgiving here so it was a great feel for the holidays. My biggest complaint is the septic smell in the home!!! We first arrived and the property smelled really nice but as soon as the showers started running the house got overwhelmed with a strong septic smelled that stayed the whole time. It’s mainly in the 3 bedroom to the right of the property and it’s strong!!! I had to keep planning outings so it could get our mind off of it but it’s bad!!!! It got so bad you could even smell it outside the front door!!! I read the reviews right before the trip and noticed that it had been some type of septic problem but I was under the impression that it had been fixed. Overall we made the best of our trip and still enjoyed it but that smell is terrible!!!! Please feel fix this problem Bc the property is beautiful and a great location!!!

Sewage backup in the home

The house is beautiful until you try to use the restroom or use any water at all at your cabin. After water is ran the whole house is unbearable to even be in, a foul sewage lingering smell is throughout the whole house. This is a Health violation that I was never informed of. The owner was absolutely no help with our problem at all once we were at the cabin. One of my friends sleeping next to the green bathroom which smells the worst out of all the rooms woke up and got sick in the middle of the night because of the horrendous smell, he slept on the couch the rest of the time. I am so displeased and unsatisfied with my stay and can not believe I would pay so much money to stay in a hazardous condition like this. This is a problem that was known about by host before we arrived but not addressed to us because I’ve read 2 reviews within the past 2 months with this same exact issue yet we still payed top dollar to stay when we were never told about this hazardous sleeping conditions. We paid over 400 dollars in fees cleaning fees included for the whole cabin to have dust and definitely not deep cleaned at all. Also we were never informed that 2 cars wouldn’t have fit, the one driveway is not parkable due to a slab of the concrete gone for work. Good thing we didn’t bring two cars like we were originally going to do. We stayed 2 nights we had two bags of trash that we couldn’t even throw away properly bc the trash was already jammed packed out of the cans like it hadn’t been taken in months. We almost couldn’t fit our 2 small bags of trash in. No problems were resolved, he said he sent maintenance to the cabin and they said there was no smell. As soon as we got back from the strip the cabin smelled worse then when we left nothing would help the smell. I hope no one else has to go through this until this problem is resolved bc it is very unsafe and unsanitary.

Good location, bad experience

When I booked this property in May 2021, I contacted the owner to ensure there were 3 parking spots. Upon arrival, half the driveway was under construction with raw sewage exposed. The property had a strong sewage smell in the entire home, especially in the bedrooms and bathroom. When I contacted the owner about the parking he told us we could park behind the cabin in the grass. There was no way to do this as the only car access to behind the property would be driving over the area under construction. When I contacted the owner about the smell he did not respond with a solution. After reading recent reviews it seems as though this has been a problem since August of 2021 and the owner did not inform me that the property would not be in fully working order as it was described and shown in photos when I booked in May 2021. We would have cancelled our booking of this property had these problems been known. I have since messaged the owner and filed a complaint through VRBO with no response from the owner. Overall disappointed with this stay.

Needs Some Repairs

The cabin was very spacious and had a lot of good qualities. Unfortunately there are a lot of things that were not clear about the state of things and need to be fixed. The carport is all torn up and unusable making it difficult to park if you have multiple cars. I had been told that four cars would be able to park there but I can’t see that ever happening, especially without that carport. There is work being done on the septic system so the one bathroom caused that whole side to smell terrible all trip. The back door doesn’t latch properly and only stays closed when the deadbolt is locked. The hot tub works semi okay but not all the jets turn on and the filter cover kept floating off. Due to the lack of information about the property, I don’t think I would choose to return to this cabin again.

Major plumbing issues

When we arrived at the house on 10/7/21 the green bathroom smelled of sewer extremely bad flushed the toilet ran some water in the sink and bath because I thought maybe it's sat and the water in the traps dryed out checked back the next morning 10/8/21 still smelled of sewer notified the property owners no response back called no answer and voice-mail book was full we left went out for the day came back that night and within a hour and a half of being back all the toilets were backed up and would not drain couldn't get a hold of anyone same issue as before when I tried to contact them. Got up in the morning 10/9/21 to find standing sewer water backed up into the shower with actual poop floating in it off the lower area bathroom by the kitchen was finally able to get ahold of the property owners at 8:53am they sent a plumber over they just pumped to septic system did not fix the backed up lines toilets still wouldn't work. You could flush the toilet in the green bathroom and walk out side to the carport area they have dug up and hear water leaking under the house. Called the property owener back no answer sent txt message got another person to call me back at 2:30pm and this person actually explained the situation that was happening with the property they have been trying to get the plumbing issues fixed in between renters spent 12k on it so far to have all the plumbing still messed up they sent a guy out he took pictures of the problems sent them to someone then took 2 screws and screwed the lower bathroom door closed outside the kitchen and locked the doors on it so you could not use it. I contacted the other person that called me back and said the plumbing issues were still not fixed and she said they have a plumber coming back out still we left again and they texted us at 7:17pm and said all the toilets are working again when we arrived back at the house all the plumbing was working and the green bathroom still smelled badly of sewer we left the next morning 10/10/21 they told us it was rented back out that night we left I feel sorry for them because its not fixed and will happen to them to.

Motorcycle trip

This property was unique in style, clean, and peaceful. We enjoyed our stay and even had a bear sighting one morning- the hot tub was nice, the 1 and 2 jets were not functional but 3 worked well. The backdoor didn't latch unless locked so when sitting out on the back patio we couldn't shut the door completely. The space and size were great for our group. It is located on a rather busy road but was still very peaceful there. One big thing was the carport was not functional' we weren't told about this and one of our guests almost pulled into that driveway which would have been bad. The carport was one big reason we booked the property as we were on motorcycles. The drive we had to park in was small and difficult for us to get out of safely with being on motorcycles and the road having the amount of traffic. Had we been in a car this wouldn't have been any problem at all. Overall the property was great for us, and we enjoyed our time there.
