This cabin in the lake is a gem. Itâs everything you need and super well equipped and organized. The owner was very responsive. Itâs a beauty on the lake with a private dock, a beautiful back porch overlooking the lake, a picnic/grill area with table and chairs also overlooking the lake. It was 25 minutes from Tech, so very convenient.
Quaint, quiet, and cozy cabin nestled right on Claytor Lake. The cabin was clean and just as described and pictured. Husband and I were having a get-a-way weekend and it was perfect. Had one rolling storm come through and it was wonderful to listen to the rain hitting the metal roof. Love that this owner allows access to canoes, kayaks and watershed. My hubby and I went in the lake each day; he fished and I just enjoyed the peace and quiet. Saw all kinds of wildlife during our time on the water to include some turkeys. Dwayne was a great host and made contact on our first night to see if there was anything we needed and gave us his number if we needed to reach out. Excellent host! All in all itâs exactly what we needed this weekend.
My friend and I had a very nice stay at this cabin. It is very close to Clayton Lake state park, Pulaski and Draper. It is well appointed and the back porch view is wonderful. My only suggestions are: 1. People need to be aware that there are a lot of steps leading down to the house, then when you get inside there is a pretty steep staircase leading down to the living area. I would also suggest instructions on the heating and air system. All in all I would recommend staying here if you don't mind stairs.
Great place to stay! Very nice accommodation and it had everything we needed. There was a minor issue with the lock when we arrived and Dwayne made everything more than right very quickly despite the late hour we arrived at. Would stay again!
We loved our long weekend here! The owners were very friendly and responsive. The property has everything you need and more. The biggest plus is its coziness. Between the open room and the great porch with pretty views of the lake, I finished a whole book. Kind of don't want to leave too good of a review because I want to keep it a secret! We WILL be back! (Note: as others have said, the cabin is not good for people who cannot do stairs)
Wonderful stay with friends for a VT Football weekend. Cabin was very cozy, and the porch was wonderful for sipping coffee in the morning or wine at night. We would recommend for any getaway! Just a heads (if traveling with children), the bedroom ceiling is not fully closed off to the rest of the house.
The house had everything we needed. The lake was awesome and as a kid i played with Linkin logs and this was a house you would have built. The house was very clean very private we plan in using this house again. Great for VT students as well only 30 min away.
The stay here was wonderful. There was a lot of communication ahead to tell us they were expecting us. There was communication after arrival to see if we needed anything. Honestly I have never felt more cared about in any location that I stayed. It was a bonus to have paddle boats and extra water gear on sight that we could enjoy. The one thing is there were a lot of steps. We didn't mind that at all as we were on the side of the hill. My husband booked this so it may have already been in the listing.
The cabin was cozy and we loved the stay.
Absolutely beautiful, cozy cabinâŠ
My only concern is lots of steps for someone who is having knee surgery or an older person who may have issues with lots of steps.
We really enjoyed our stay. They are fully stocked with everything you need.
Love the added touches, the kayaks and paddle boards. Extremely nice owners! Canât wait to visit again!
An adorable cabin on the water with plenty to do for everyone. From sitting on the awesome porch to yard games or water activities this cabin has it all. The host has paid attention to detail and made this a relaxing retreat. It was very clean and had all the kitchen supplies we needed. Would book here again.
My brother and I stayed here for a few days in the spring as a nice break from work and to get in some fishing. The cabin is equipped with everything you need whether it be a short or long stay. There are plenty of pots, pans, and cooking utensils. You have a full kitchen at your disposal with a good size dining table and there is also a washer/dryer if you need them. There is plenty to do in the area, but there is also a TV with satellite service and a bunch of board games for rainy days. The property has a nice grill and a couple fire pits for roasting marshmallows with the family. There is also a wrap around deck with enough seating for the whole family to relax on. The only negative was that there are a lot of stairs to get down to the water, over 100 from the parking spot. Thankfully my brother and I looked at it as a way to get a decent workout in as we had to carry our 100lb+ kayaks down all the stairs plus all our fishing gear. The hosts are very responsive and checked in a few times to make sure our stay was great!
We had a wonderful time at the cabin for a spring break trip.
We visited Virginia Tech and the Cascades while we stayed.
We highly recommend eating at the Mason Jar that is right at the end of the road.
Had a great stay. It is a nice little cabin in a semi-secluded area. The cabin was very clean and well-equipped. We will definately look this one up next time we are in the area.
This is one of the most well appointed VRBOs I have ever booked with a super responsive host. The sizable kitchen is well equipped and living room couches super comfy. Loved the porch and lakeside dock. Be mindful that There are quite a few stairs required between the driveway and house, in the house and then down to the dock. And itâs worth every step!
The home is beautiful inside and out. I stayed to visit family and it was perfectly located to where i needed to be. The home was really cute and cozy. The host was amazing and checked up on me to see how I was enjoying my stay and if I needed anything so the communication was always there. There was no issues what so ever. The stay was even better being the home is on the water. I got to lay out and tan, swim and watch the boats go by. I will definitely be back
The house was just a short drive off I-81, easy to find, sparkling clean, beautifully decorated, and had great little touches like providing coffee and s'more fixings and allowing access to the kayaks and canoes. It's in a quiet area on a scenic cove with easy access to the main lake channel. We had a great time there and Dwayne was very communicative. Be aware that there are lots of steps to navigate and cellular service at the house is iffy, but that comes with the territory of vacationing on a mountain lake!
