This was a lovely place to stay for our family vacation. The sunsets were amazing. The beach was relaxing with the fire pit and Adirondack chairs. The house itself was very clean and well-stocked for cooking our family meals. The king-size bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable. There was no air conditioning, but there were fans stored in the closets to use. The house does sit close to the road, but it wasnât a problem. The traffic was minimal. It is quiet and peaceful.
Michael is a great host. He made sure we had all the pertinent information about the property and area before we arrived. Our questions were answered promptly and fully. The property and beach were exactly as advertised. You could walk for miles on the beach in either direction. The few people we did run into turned out to be locals and were very friendly. In the house is a binder with full instructions about everything the house has to offer and instructions on how to use them. Plus the binder has info about the surrounding area and important phone numbers. Do yourself a favor and page through it the day you arrive. Phone and internet are a bit sketchy (as mentioned in his property description. WIFI is available.) at times but cable TV is fully functional with a huge selection to choose from.To sum it up we had a very pleasant stay and would highly recommend it.
This home is truly exceptional! We had a fantastic stay for MTU graduation weekend. Plenty of room for 4 young adults, parents and grandma. We enjoyed the big kitchen, the cozy fireplace, the comfy beds and especially the view. Bonfires on the beach, sunsets and stargazing made this a 5 star experience!
My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the UP at this beautiful place. House had all the comforts of home while still feeling secluded for a get-away. We enjoyed walking down to the beach and couldnât get enough of the stunning sunsets.
The four of us enjoyed a completely relaxing visit. The home was perfectly clean. The furniture was very comfortable, and we had lots of room to relax. The big kitchen was easy for cooking. The details in the home were just as attractive as in the pictures. The beach is amazing - stretching far in both directions, and it was an easy walk straight out from the house.
This was our second stay and we are already looking at our calendars for this coming fall and next winter for return trip! Home is set up perfectly for privacy but also for lounging together by fireplace, playing games in the kitchen/dining area, cooking and baking together! The cleaning crew had a few short hours to turn over the whole house between guests and they did a fantastic job! Can't wait to return!
This beautiful cabin will have everything you need, including a fantastic view, and path to the beach. This cabin very much felt like the owner's home, with great care taken in it's upkeep and quality of provisions. We appreciated the mudroom to hold all of our ski/winter gear, snowy boots, etc. We spent most of our time playing games at the large table, and enjoying our time with family in front of the fireplace. Beds were super comfy! We had a great family Christmas in this little piece of paradise.
The area was beautiful and so is this home. With a view of Lake Superior, less than 20 mins from Houghton. This home is clean and roomy. The beds are very comfortable. The kitchen is large with a nice walk in pantry stocked with many essentials. We had a great stay!!
This cabin was the perfect home base for our UP adventure. We had 5 women and we all had plenty of space to spread out. The cabin had everything we needed and more. We all agreed we would love to stay here again.
This was an exceptional house! It has a great layout and was very comfortable for a group. The host was responsive and helpful. We especially loved the access to Lake Superior, quiet location and proximity to Houghton and Ontonagon.
We would definitely book this house again and recommend it to others.
Host sent us a very detailed message about the home with his contact information prior to check in. Home was very comfortable and the surrounding area is very scenic and saw a variety of animals. Sitting around the fire pit on the beach at the end of the days was outstanding. Enjoyed our stay.
Communication and host response was always good. My wife and I were making a small trip though the UP of Michigan and our first stop was the Houghton area. This was a great spot to launch from. Easy access to all areas east and west along the Superior shoreline. The house is beautiful and on a the perfect sunset spot to unwind. We did not have kids with, but the beach has plenty of clean sand for children and grandchildren. Highly recommend.
One word, âWONDERFUL!â
Our family picks a new location in the U.P. each summer to vacation at for a week. We were not let down with this vacation rental.
The waves and beach of Lake Superior entertained our grandchildren everyday for hours!
The house was spectacular. Beds were so comfortable, the kitchen was a dream! It was well stocked with anything we needed. The large mud room was an added touch filled with beach toys, extra chairs for the beach, and lots of beach towels!
We found this location to be convenient to many adventures.
The little Farm market (Gregoâs) on Covered Road 5 minutes away was a gem!
The Chutes and Ladders park in Houghton was a sure hit! Ice cream store on the premises!!
We will forever have this place etched in our memories. As will our family!
This was our second time staying here and we had a great time! The beach/water was perfect for the kids, they had a blast swimming and playing in the sand. Towards the end of the trip they enjoyed watching the waves made by the wind while the adults enjoyed the sunsets.
The house is a great place to stay while enjoying the sites of the Keeweenaw. We lucked out and were visiting during the Mineral Days - our kids had a blast at the mineral show and rock swap.
Would definitely stay again.
Beautiful property, just as described and pictured! We had a wonderful stay. Our only passing discomfort came from the unusually high temperatures during the week we stayed. Many homes in this area don't have air conditioning because they so rarely need it. Without A/C, the afternoon we arrived was hot and stuffy in the house. (We quickly got back in our car and went to the blissfully cold Walmart for groceries. I've never been so grateful to be at a Walmart!- ha) By the evening, the temperatures had cooled down and with the windows open and fans blowing, we were perfectly comfortable. The rest of the week was also hotter than normal temperatures, but really only late afternoon and we managed fine. The views from the back windows were gorgeous, we enjoyed the lake both from in the house as well as down at the beach each night. We all slept comfortably and enjoyed our time in the upper peninsula very much. Thank you!
The cabin was a perfect fit for our family and trip. It was perfectly situated to be about an hour away from our adventures in the Keweenaw Penisula and Copper Harbor and west to the Porcupine Mountains. Also, the beach was quiet and peaceful. The allowance of one dog also a great fit for us.
